Using the Exchange Management Shell from C#

by Hannes de Jager 15 November 2011 Exchange

I’m wanting to build on my previous post titled “Using PowerShell from managed code” to show how to invoke the Exchange 2010 Management Shell from managed code. Since Exchange 2007, the primary management tool for Exchange is the Exchange Management Shell (EMS). The EMS is really just a PowerShell session with Exchange specific extensions loaded. [...]

Using PowerShell to Bulk Create Exchange users with unique passwords

by Nicolas Blank 20 September 2011 Exchange

There’s a number of articles which detail how to create an Exchange user from a CSV file using Exchange Management Shell, however most of them harvest a password at runtime by prompting the user to type in credentials. The password is then set for all users. However, what if your users all need to have [...]

Exchange 2010 – Wrong path for kerbauth.dll in IIS config

by Nicolas Blank 23 May 2011 Exchange

Exchange unattended installs can sometimes misfire, and I had an instance where the install path specified in the install script became D:\EXCHANGE,SERVER\ instead of D:\EXCHANGE SERVER\ with a comma “,” replacing the space. As a result the PowerShell provider broke and local management functions were impaired. Eventually I decided to uninstall and take the space [...]

by Nicolas Blank 17 May 2011 Commentary

Having had the privilege of sharing a class with Robert Gillies during my MCM 2010 rotation last year, I wanted to call out a blog entry which mentions Robert Gillies and comments on his writing on the Exchange team blog.   http://blog.mimecast.com/2011/05/robert%e2%80%99s-rules-and-challenging-complexity/   Robert is a consultant with Microsoft Consulting Services, and since he’s been [...]

Corporate mail users use any mail platforms to “get the job done”

by Nicolas Blank 23 February 2011 Anouncements

A new study shows that younger users will use any mail platform available – to the exclusion of the corporate platform provided – in order to get their work done. Mimecast have published a blog post and a press release with potential huge shock value to most companies with formalised email infrastructure. A demographic of [...]

Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 Best Practices, Book Review

by Mahmoud Magdy 20 February 2011 Book Reviews

as an Architect and technology lover, I rarely find a new interesting book to read, I have read a lot and that made my life harder now, I cannot find a book targeting experienced consultants/Architects those days. Most of the books explains the technology from scratch and overlooking the tricky parts since it assumes that [...]
